DJ O.G.ONE is an accomplished and respected DJ, with a stellar reputation in the music industry, not only for his contributions to music as a DJ, but also being the official Portland Trail Blazers DJ, producer and pillar in the community. David Jackson also known as DJ O.G.ONE was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. In March of 2017 David had successful surgery to remove all of his cancer, which we were all thankful for. Unfortunately, there was a major complication that no one seen coming. David woke up visually impaired with no feeling in his right hand. Doctors weren't sure what caused the complications, but those complications made his road to recovery that much difficult.
In 2017, Coach Gardner created the DJ O.G.ONE Invitational, as a benefit basketball showcase for OG. The showcase highlighted dozens of the top programs in the Pacific Northwest who traveled to Portland to compete in a two-day showcase.
The sole purpose of the showcase is to help bring the community together for awareness and open dialogue about this silent killer that continues to take lives at an alarming rate.
To help bring awareness and open dialogue to our communities that have been plagued by the silent killer of cancer.
Through the showcase, we have not only been able to raise awareness but also generate funding to help support other individuals and families who have also been affected by cancer.
Our 2023 event was dedicated to Nate Schregardus (pictured right) who participated in the 2022 event and lost his battle with cancer in October of 2023.
This year's event will take place the first weekend of December in Portland, OR and surrounding areas.
